ORGANIC DWELLING:
“biomimicry in design & architecture”
State Museum of Architecture (MUAR), Moscow
(exhibition continues until November 30th, 2011)

This exhibition will explore how designers and architects have embraced a more organic language,
welcoming technology while not letting go of our more primal instincts. The installation will
investigate the following 9 architectural concepts from nature:
MY HOME IS MY NEST
MY HOME IS MY EARTH
MY HOME IS MY LANDSCAPE
MY HOME IS MY HIDE-OUT
MY HOME IS MY COCOON
MY HOME IS MY HIVE
MY HOME IS MY WEB
MY HOME IS MY ARMOUR
MY HOME IS MY MASTERPIECE
September, 2011

The exhibition takes a humorous and critical look at a theme that is ever present beneath the surface of our everyday lives. Contemporary design appears as a multifaceted medium equally skilled at negotiating a number of different arenas – postmodern consumer culture and art, seduction and self-referential presentation.

New pieces of “Luciferase” edited exclusively by Galerie BSL, for Design Basel 2011.A
collection which is above all a set of living organisms capable of surprising us by their
colours, textures and demeanor.
So, abissology, mineralogy, vegetology or genetic manipulation…? A little of each as well
as humour, tenderness and poetry. For if in spite of its strangeness, Nacho Carbonell’s design
succeeds in imposing its own evidence, recognisable among all, it is also because he
knows from the start to prompt a dialogue, an emotional connection which appeals to
everyone’s imagination, sensibility and capacity to dream.
