One of the experiments
At the studio we find important to keep experimenting with new shapes, colors and textures. That’s why Nacho asked me to make new samples. It all started with shapes that we created with jute.
Due to recent demand, the studio has been working to develop pieces from the Evolution series that can live outside. Originally, the pieces were finished in specialized paper-mache, which though surprisingly durable, perhaps wouldn’t have lasted outside forever. So the challenge was to create a material that could be applied in a similar way, but that would withstand extreme weather conditions.

The studio is constantly working to develop new materials. Many of the malleable, sculpty materials we make are created by mixing solid matter with adhesives. Similarly the Tree Chair that we presented in Basel last year, is finished with a mix of powdered leaves and a binding agent.
The leaves are ground down into a range of different powder densities and mixed with the adhesive in a giant dough mixer.

This object has been a “little big” success in Nacho´s Studio, so we´ve decided to finish the bronze collection.
The series is of 12, these will be the last 8. And that’s it!
