This project was created in 2005. We wanted to create an outdoor event. The “balonas” served as the lighting. Each ball had a lighted candle inside that made them glow in the dark. What I wanted to achieve was a disposable product but in a sustainable way and with minimal cost. They are made up of a mixture of sand and natural glues, using balloons as a mould. The result is these delicate sand balloons with a smooth interior,  that helps to reflect light, and a rough texture on the outside. With a thickness of no more than 2 mms.,they are extremely delicate, wherein the beauty lies of this project for us. The “balonas” end up disintegrating into the environment, becoming a few grains of sand that the weather disposes of.
