Archival Table

Source Chair

Just like libraries and archives, museums
are also places where ideas and
knowledge are stored and conserved.
New thoughts and concepts develop
here too. Carbonell’s latest series refers
to such institutions. Thoughts and ideas
rise up from the tables and chairs, as
it were, as semi-transparent, cloudlike
forms. Altogether they constitute a sort
of superbrain, like a dynamic internet
cloud, a bees’ hive or anthill, with
a multitude of voices, insights and
possibilities.
The work is also an investigation into
forms and materials. To Carbonell,
the challenge lay in the realization of
various degrees of transparency and the
application of colour.
