Monumental
2019
Carpenters Workshop Gallery in partnership with the Lombard Odier Group present Nacho’s new pieces in a collective exhibition: DYSFUNCTIONAL at Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca’d’Oro on the Grand Canal during Venice Biennale Arte 2019.
Dysfunctional a collective exhibition that rethink the boundaries of art and function.
For this occasion Nacho work in a tree-like, organic sculptures which will transform the monumental courtyard of 15th century mosaics into a forest of light.
Their shimmering texture reference the gilt and polychrome decorations which once adorned the palazzo’s façade and their cocoon metal mesh shapes echo the quatrefoils that decorate the windows of Ca’ d’Oro (‘the golden house’).
"I would like the public to engage with the objects as much as they can by walking through them, passing underneath, exploring them as more than a collection of individual pieces. The idea is to create an emotional experience, by building some kind of a Stage"
