Panta Rei
2013
Panta Rei is a model village that hides an archaic and mysterious mechanism. Inspired by Italo Calvino’s masterpiece Invisible Cities, this metaphysical landscape is housed in a glass case. Below it are 12 interchangeable glass blocks composed of several layers of geological sections. The blocks face the village and represent the months of the year. At regular intervals the mechanism fires a shot at a glass block destroying it layer by layer, creating a cycle of transformation.
